SANDAKAN: THE WILDLIFE CAPITAL OF BORNEO

Next stop on our Borneo adventure saw us touch down in Sandakan Airport – the location of the infamous Sandakan Death Marches during the Japanese occupation of Borneo in WW2. Known as the ‘Wildlife Capital’ of Borneo, we were keen to go and check out some of the furry jungle dwellers running free in this special corner of Asia.

ISLAND HOPPING OFF THE COAST OF BORNEO

What comes to mind when you think of Borneo? Lush green rainforests? Wild jungle? A plethora of fascinating animals? A bloody tough mountain to climb? Limestone caves? Orangutans? Monkeys with big noses?? Well it should be all this and more. High on that list should be amazing reefs and marine wildlife, gorgeous beaches and pristine waters.
